I haven’t got the skills to paint or draw, but I do appreciate art. I look with envy at the amazing talents of the speed painters on YouTube and wish I could do the same. Instead, I really enjoy the technical aspects of reading light and getting the correct exposure with my camera. I occasionally update my Ian Brown Photography feed on Instagram, usually with helpful hints for those that would like to know how I’ve shot a particular photo and replicate it themselves.
My favourite styles are candid and studio portraiture. Capturing a glinting emotion at a wedding or an incredibly sharp studio photo with some creative lighting makes me really happy. My biggest weakness is landscapes.
